Midwinter Stylecraft Fashionshape Oranges and Lemons lidded Tureen

Roy Midwinter designed a brand new Shape in the 1950's. The fluid forms and rectangular plates were inspired by American design. The Midwinter Stylecraft shape was born. It still featured the traditional rims on plates and rectangular handles but gave a glimpse of the new and exciting Fifties. Only two years later, in 1955, the Stylecraft Shape was updated to the Fashion Shape, a truly organic and rounded design. Plates were produced without rims, all the handles were rounded. This design was produced in dozens of different patterns, many of those designed by Jessie Tait, some by Terence Conran.
