Makonde Tribe 'Tree of Life' carving
Approx. 20 cm tall. The tree of life sculptures are around since the 1930's, they usually depict a group of interlocking figures working together or supporting each other. They are made of African blackwood ( mpingo) which has the same qualities as ebony.
